Multi-Agent Based Modelling: from Social Simulation to Real Time Strategy Games
نویسنده
چکیده
Simulation has been regarded as the third way to represent social models, alternative to other two symbol systems: the verbal argumentation and the mathematical one. Simulation can be processed by a computer and is particularly suited for complex systems, in which the aggregate behaviour is not necessarily the sum of the sincle parts. Agent Based Modelling (ABM) is for sure the most interesting and advanced approach for simulating a complex system: in a social context, the single parts and the whole are often very hard to describe in detail; by using intelligent agents as basic building blocks, there are formalisms which allow to study the emergency of social behaviour through the creation of models, known as "artificial societies". This paper deals with an hybrid agent based methodology, borrowed from the social sciences application field, which could be succesfully applied to real-time strategy games; this would create a realistic environment and a less deterministic behaviour, thanks to the AI technology enbedded in the hybrid approach.

Robust Opponent Modeling in Real-Time Strategy Games using Bayesian Networks
Opponent modeling is a key challenge in Real-Time Strategy (RTS) games as the environment is adversarial in these games, and the player cannot predict the future actions of her opponent. Additionally, the environment is partially observable due to the fog of war. In this paper, we propose an opponent model which is robust to the observation noise existing due to the fog of war. In order to cope...

Proper management of epidemic diseases such as Covid-19 is very important because of its effects on the economy, culture and society of nations. By applying various control strategies such as closing schools, restricting night traffic and mass vaccination program, the spread of this disease has been somewhat controlled but not completely stopped. The main goal of this research is to provide a f...
متن کاملReal-Time Path Planning and Navigation for Multi-agent and Crowd Simulations
We survey some of our recent work on real-time path planning and navigation of multiple autonomous agents in dynamic environments. The driving application of our work are real-time crowd simulation for computer games, virtual environments, and avatar-based online 3D social networks. We also present extensions to these methods for accelerating the overall simulation and for modeling more complex...

Real-Time Strategy games are among the most popular genres of commercial PC games, and also have widely applicable analogs in the field of “Serious Games” such as military simulations, city planning, and other forms of simulation involving multi-agent coordination and an underlying economy. One of the core tasks in playing a traditional Real-Time Strategy game is building a base in an effective...
متن کاملAnytime algorithms for multi-agent visibility-based pursuit-evasion games
We investigate algorithms for playing multi-agent visibilitybased pursuit-evasion games. A team of pursuers attempts to maintain visibility contact with an evader who actively avoids tracking. We aim for applicability of the algorithms in real-world scenarios; hence, we impose hard constraints on the run-time of the algorithms and we evaluate them in a simulation model based on a real-world urb...
